SOGET, in collaboration with Naviland Cargo, leader in container transport in France, rail, road, river/sea transport operator and manager of combined terminals. Together, they offer a new customs solution for rail transport, the transfer between TSS to promote multimodality in transport and the greening of logistics chains.

SOGET and Naviland Cargo aim to develop the modal shift (from road to rail) of imported goods. The transfer between TSF (Temporary Storage Facility) enables the transportation of goods that have not been cleared through customs, a complementary solution to the more traditional use of the transit document, or to the release for free circulation as soon as they pass through the port. This functionality has been available in the PCS S)ONE since 2018 for river transport and has been fully deployed on the Seine Axis. The major advantage of this approach is the period of time during which the goods can remain awaiting customs clearance, i.e. up to 90 days from the first unloading on the maritime TSI.

A pilot project carried out in collaboration with the DGDDI

Le Havre and Bordeaux Customs, MSC, Heppner Group and Naviland Cargo to test the developments made in S)ONE on a real-life scale. The rapid finalization of the latest technical tests will allow the extension of S)ONE Rail to all rail services for stations equipped with S)ONE in the same way as for inland waterways under the conditions set out in the Union Customs Code. The Transfer between IST allows for the handling and customs clearance of goods which, imported through the ports of the Seine Axis, are transported to the customs offices of Bordeaux, Cognac, Gevrey, Lyon, Strasbourg, Nantes, Toulouse, Valenton, Clermont Ferrand and Valence…

“S)ONE Rail is a real tool for streamlining operations, very operational and aimed at promoting modal shift and the decarbonization of logistics chains, thanks to the S)ONE PCS.”

Hervé Cornède – Managing Director of SOGET

Traceability of containers on rail

In this project, SOGET has carried out the developments necessary for the traceability in the PCS S)ONE of containers traveling by rail to the consolidated TSI. The exchange of information between the PCS and the directly involved parties, such as rail transport operators, terminals, freight forwarders or shipowners, is kept to a minimum, relying on existing messages.

The data comes directly from the Port Community System S)ONE. SOGET is committed to greener logistics chains and to promoting multimodality by choosing alternative modes of transport such as rail.

“The main objective of this project was to take the messages from the rail carriers and connect them to S)ONE, using EDI interfaces. Our systems are now interoperable with each other, without Naviland having to do any further work. This new feature of S)ONE allows for a completely fluid connection of the entire logistics, customs and rail chain.”
